If you had struggled with acne or is currently struggling with acne, you would know that what’s even worse is reoccurring acne. (A true nightmare, I know.) In order to help reduce the number of times acne reoccurs and bring your self confidence back, LAMINE Skin Clinic is here to help!

Why Acne Reoccurs

For some, acne may be a temporary cause that flares up and then immediately reduces. For others, acne is constantly reoccurring in the same spot, often in the form of cystic acne or in small, closed nodules. There may be many causes to these reoccurrences but check out these few reasons to see if you fit into one!

#1: Hormonal fluctuations

Being the sore thumb of acne, hormone may be the main reason to why your acne keeps reappearing. Being a typical trigger to acne, hormones can be the cause of excess sebum secretion due to the elevated levels and shifts. This type of acne usually appears and maintains around the chin and forehead areas.

If you feel your skin is extra sensitive during menstruation, visiting the clinic for gentle facial sessions are always recommended as a prevention! At LAMINE Skin Clinic, we offer the Healing Care Basic Program as well as our Acne White Program dedicated for our acne prone skin patients. Visiting the clinic prior to your hormonal spike is especially beneficial to calm down the skin in preparation for the elevated hormonal levels.

#2: Excessive touching of the face

You may not realize it, or have done it without knowing, but touching the face is also one of the common triggers for reappearing acne. This doesn’t always mean just hands; the spectrum can be as broad as the same surface of your pillow, reusing masks, accidentally touching the face while brushing away the hair, or even upon wearing glasses! All these factors can contribute to a direct contact of bacteria to the face. Acne prone skin and sensitive skin can all be triggered by such actions so be aware of where your face touches!

#3: Incomplete healing of previous acne

In order for acne to completely subside, you need to let it completely heal. Otherwise, this may cause room for a second breakout or a bigger case of cystic acne to form. The most important thing to avoid is popping pimples on your own. Popping the pus out of pimples should be done in sanitary conditions under a professional who knows how to correctly clean the formed acne. If you let the pimple heal incompletely and continue to wear makeup or resume poor skincare routines, this acne may turn cystic or reappear in the same spot.

If you notice you started to develop a severe case of cystic acne that is red on appearance and creates a throbbing pain upon touch, it most likely requires a cortisone shot for immediate recovery. At LAMINE Skin Clinic, we meticulously take care of our patients’ acne, and offer cortisone shots to severe cases of cystic acne.

What is a cortisone shot?

Cortisone shot is a type of steroid injection that offers immediate relief for any swelling, irritation, pain in a specific part of the body. This can be used for acne as well since it helps to calm down the inflammation temporarily and create relief of pain upon touch.

LAMINE Skin Clinic also specializes in Potenza microneedling for our acne prone patients. Potenza is a type of radiofrequency microneedling treatment that is especially helpful for acne by reducing sebum production. For patients who experience reappearing cystic acne, Potenza is a great solution!
