One reason why some people may hesitate in receiving a skin treatment is due to the results. To be more precise, the number of sessions that are required to obtain the best results. How many sessions should you be getting before seeing the effects? This differs based on the treatment so we will explain!

Why Do Treatments Require Multiple Sessions?

For most, if not majority of the treatments, it is always recommended to undergo multiple sessions for the best results. Treatments can be divided into two types: those that eventually wear off, and those that are long-lasting.

About: Treatments that eventually wear off

These treatments include those that have effects up to an approximate period before eventually wearing off. For these types of treatments, you will need to receive a touch-up or a new, full session in order to see the same effects again. A good example is botox, which temporarily blocks the intensity of muscle movements in a certain area.

Botox

At LAMINE Skin Clinic, we offer two types of botox: 1) Botulax, 2) Allergan.

Botulax is a Korean domestic version of botox. While the ingredients in Botulax along with its effects are similar to the international types, Botulax typically lasts a little shorter. This is best recommended for patients who are looking for a cheaper and softer botox option. The downside of Botulax is you would probably have to repeat multiple sessions in a shorter period of time.

Allergan is the U.S version of botox. Allergan is the first botox brand to develop botox (it is where the name botox is derived from) so it is often called the ‘original’ botox. As the effects are much more stronger than Botulax, this is recommended to patients who have bigger, stronger facial muscles and are seeking longer lasting effects. While Dr. Kim is known to opt for a natural appearance when injecting botox, Allergan may give a ‘freezing’ look depending on your preference.

About: Treatments that are long-lasting

Unlike botox, there are many treatments that offer long-lasting effects that do not wear off. In fact, these treatments build onto the initial effects and continue to maximize the results as you repeat multiple sessions.

Does this mean having one session isn’t good enough?

The answer is no! Even with just one session, the following treatments have a sure effect that leaves you feeling satisfied (and surprised).

Potenza

I’m sure you have already heard of Potenza by now 🤭 Potenza is a radiofrequency microneedling treatment that uses ultra fine needles to penetrate the top layer of the skin. By doing so, this stimulates the coagulation of the sebum glands, allowing collagen to regenerate and tightening pores, erasing acne scars, lightening fine wrinkles in the process. Even with one treatment of Potenza, you will be able to see differences in your skin texture visibly. For those who wear makeup, you will notice that your makeup glides on your skin a lot smoother and nicer than before!
