By now you should know that the skin thins as we age. But did you know that hair also thins as well? Take a quick look at the mirror and see if your hair is also facing the same problem as well. But don’t worry, there are solutions to everything 🤭

Why the Hair?
Aging is one of the common causes for thinning hair. Normally, we lose around 50 to 100 hairs a day as our body continues to shed old hair and grow new hair. But throughout our life, the number of shedding hair increases and sadly, the number of growing hair decreases. As our hormone levels change as we age, our hair follicles become smaller and produce thinner hair. That’s why when you put your hair in a ponytail, you may notice that the weight or the girth of the hair you’re grabbing is feeling a lot lighter and smaller.
Where is it the most noticeable?
For males, male pattern baldness shows through the widening of the forehead and significant loss of hair the frontal area. For females however, this can be a little difficult to notice at first. Some signals you might want to be on the lookout for is a widening hair part or thinning hair around the frontal temple area.
Now, before you start researching about anti-thinning shampoos or hair loss treatments, it’s best to start doing preventative measures that stimulate healthier and stronger hair follicles.
PRP Injection
You might be wondering, isn’t PRP for the face? In truth, this injection is used in different medical fields besides dermatology.

Platelet-Rich Plasma injection is a minimally invasive injection that is rich in proteins known as growth factors, which stimulates dormant cells to reproduce, regenerate, and strengthen.
In our previous blog posts, we talked about how PRP injections can be used as anti-inflammatory solutions to acne or as an anti-aging agent.

When PRP is injected into the scalp however, the regenerative properties work to stimulate the hair follicles and prolong the growth phase of the hair cycle so new, healthy hair can be produced. Being minimally invasive, PRP injections are actually a safe and effective booster to your scalp concerns!
First, we draw a blood sample from your arm which is then put to centrifuge. This process is done through a special machine that rapidly spins the blood so fluids of different density are separated.

We then take only the platelet-rich plasma layer from the separated blood into a syringe to be injected into the problem area.

For our PRP injection into the scalp, we use the specialized HYCOOX injector. This injector helps to provide an even distribution across the scalp while minimizing the pain upon injection.
The Big Question: Does Hair Actually Grow?
Although results vary person by person, there are many articles and medical journals on the positive results of PRP injections for hair loss! Factors such as age, genetics, overall health condition may be underlying reasons for slow or rapid results, but you will definitely see a difference in the density of hair upon treatment 👏🏻
Is one session enough?
For skin boosters, the results always vary person by person. To some, one session may be enough to see noticeable results and to others, multiple repeated sessions is required. At LAMINE Skin Clinic, we always remain truthful about our treatments. Although trying out a session to ‘get a feel’ is good, we always recommend our patients to receive repeated sessions for maximum results. Skin boosters do not have dire side effects, so building upon the effects is the best way to achieve the best condition! ☺️
